Is Flouride in the Water Good Or Bad?

Obviously, dental hygiene is a priority to conscientious parents. Yet, in spite of the improved toothpastes and professional dental techniques and equipment, more than one quarter of 2- to 5-year-olds and half of kids 12 to 15 years old have one or more cavities, and tooth decay has affected two thirds of 16- to 19-year-olds. Many feel that adding fluoride to collective water is one way to curb the problem of tooth decay. But this thought is in no way unanimous.

Fluoride exists naturally in water and is the 13th most coarse element in the Earth's crust. Some water has sufficient natural quantities. What should be done when it is not naturally present? Should water systems add fluoride to the supply? The deliberate upon has been going on for decades and won't end here. Many factors are complicated in this discussion. On the other hand we have quotes like this: ". . . There is no dissimilarity in the tooth decay rates of the fluoridated and nonfluoridated areas surveyed." Indeed, some studies, they say, show that the more fluoride children ingest, the higher their risk of dental decay.

Too much fluoride before 8 years of age, a time when teeth are developing, can cause enamel fluorosis, a discoloration or mottling of the permanent teeth. Sometimes the amount of fluoride ingested from the water and then straight through toothpaste and dental treatments can be too much.

At times the studies have not considered the long range effects of fluoride. The con side says it has been directly connected to cancer, changes in bone structure and strength, has caused birth defects and perinatal deaths, has impaired the immune system, caused initial stages of skeletal fluorosis, caused osteoarthritis, inhibits key enzymes, suppresses thyroid function and several other adverse problems.

What about the studies mentioned above proving that fluoride is good for dental hygiene? Opponents point out the studies had several flaws. First, they did not think other minerals in the water that could have been the cause of decreased instances of tooth decay. Second, they did not think the differences in the middle of "natural fluoride" (like CaF) and added fluoride (like NaF). Third, the conclusion had diminutive or no statistical analysis. Fourth, it included no safety experiments except for dental fluorosis.

If you halt that fluoride should not be in your drinking water, what can you do about it? You could buy bottled water but this is expensive. Headaches and Peppermint considerable Oil

Headaches and migraines have plagued me most of my life. I remember many a miserable day not wanting to see anyone or do anyone but lay with an ice pack on my head to minimize the pain. During my teen years, since I had much less responsibility than I do now, I ordinarily would pick the ice pack in bed and try to sleep it off. If that did not work or I could not go to bed, I resorted to some Advil. Those of you who have suffered migraines know that it is next to impossible to go on with life when you have one. There is no pretending you feel good when it feels like there is a 2 x 4 stuck in your head.

When got I married, manifold changes came into my life. Probably one of the biggest for me was a major correction in my diet. Praise the Lord! The diet changes resulted in fewer and fewer headaches and roughly no migraines. Although they are rare now, I still have headaches from time to time especially when I am pregnant. I have not quite figured out if this is hormonal or due to other issues. With Advil out of the picture, due to its long-lasting ill effects, I needed something else to supply immediate relief. I found this especially true when pregnant with my second child. My first, who was only 8 months old when I conceived again, still needed my concentration even when I felt like I could not get my head off the pillow. After reading and researching extensively, I came over something that was simple, affordable and very effective: Peppermint important Oil. We now have two adorable small children and I ordinarily help my husband with our business. It has become impossible for me to find the time to sleep off the occasional ill During our busy days. The peppermint important oil has come straight through for me time and time again. At night, I still sleep with an ice pack if I have a headache. About a month ago I was dealing with the flu and fever. I all the time try and do anyone it takes to get better quickly, so I immediately started reading anyone I could on remedies for fever. I read that clove important oil can do wonders. However, since I did not have any of the clove oil on hand I tried half a dozen drops of peppermint important oil in a glass of water. It worked quickly to bring my fever down and I felt noticeably better the next morning.

During our recent vacation to Florida, a rash showed up on my legs. There were patches near my ankle and one on my thigh. At first, I decided to wait it out a few days, hoping it would clear up on its own. Unfortunately, I am not very good at waiting especially if it seems to be getting worse. Without my herbs nearby, I tried rubbing peppermint important oil on the rash twice a day or whenever it itched. Within two days the rashes cleared up. I am so glad I tried it!

Anytime we come in from outdoor activities (work or play) and are very hot and dehydrated, we drink a couple of drops of peppermint oil in a glass of water. It is at once refreshing and rejuvenating. It also helps if you drink it before you go surface on a hot day or before strenuous practice to keep your body temperature cool.

Peppermint important oil can also supply immediate relief for acid reflux, stomach upsets, etc. Just a couple of drops added to whether hot or cold water does the trick. And our favorite application is in ice cream. My husband loves peppermint important oil in our homemade ice cream. I just add 5 drops or so to a half gallon of the ice cream mix before I ice it. It makes a great minty treat!
